Suspects trying to steal cooking oil in Old Saybrook flee in rental truck, strike elderly driver
Old SAYBROOK, CT (WFSB) – Suspects tried out to steal cooking oil in Previous Saybrook and struck an elderly driver in Westbrook as they fled, in accordance to law enforcement.
Law enforcement mentioned the the suspects had been in a rental truck from a House Depot on Thursday early morning when the incident commenced. The truck was also identified to have been stolen.
When he was coming to work the proprietor of the cafe, Stavros Gianitsos, observed a box truck parked outside the house the cafe, and then he saw an individual in the truck and a youthful male in the vicinity of the back again, siphoning off cooking oil from a bin.
He yelled at him and then the man obtained again into the truck.
“People are making great income with it. They are cleansing it and doing no matter what with it, then reselling it,” claimed Gianitsos.

The aged driver they hit endured slight injuries, police mentioned.
They managed to flee onto Interstate 95 and into Fairfield.
